As a family and flight medicine physician in the U.S. Air Force, I frequently encountered poorly designed medical devices and digital technologies. It was frustrating to have the device or platform's design impact how I practiced medicine. I chose to leave clinical practice and refocus my efforts on the development of medical technologies. I have since gained educational and work experience securing a foundation in understanding the process of medical device and digital health development from ideation to commercialization.
